Oirschot bridge open
The new slow traffic bridge in Oirschot, a historical town in the south of The Netherlands, has opened. The elegant and simple truss is ground-breaking in its use of wood as a primary material to span the 40 meter clearing accross the Wilhelmina Canal. Ramps with bright steel railings give comfortable access.
Rotterdam WWII Brandgrens Memorial revitalised
Ten years since their initial installation, and eighty years since the bombing of Rotterdam's town centre, West 8 have assisted with a technical update to our Brandgrens WWII Memorial. The new generation of LED light fittings allows the red and green tiles to be visible throughout the day.

The Baltimore City Board of Estimates has awarded an initial contract to West 8 to develop the Middle Branch Waterfront Master Plan.

West 8 and Bureau Overland have delivered a Masterplan for the establishment of the Van Gogh National Park in The Netherlands. The Masterplan prepares and frames the concept and development of the Park for the next 100 years.

The construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo is rapidly developing, showing the landscaping initially designed by West 8.
NVTL appoints Adriaan Geuze as Extraordinary Member
On the 7th of March, West 8 hosted the annual meet-up of the Dutch Association for Garden and Landscape Architecture (NVTL). During this meeting, chairman Ben Kuipers appointed Adriaan Geuze as extraordinary member of the association.

The city council of Venlo voted in favour of a new vision for the Kazernekwartier (Kazerne Quarter) in Venlo, the Netherlands, designed by West 8.
Houston Botanic Gardens holds soft opening ceremony
In honour of the completion of the Susan Garver Family Discovery Garden, a free community celebration was held in Houston's new botanical garden on the 26th of January.

The Groningen National Program has commissioned West 8 as lead consultant for an extensive community outreach program titled ‘Toukomst’ in the north of the Netherlands. €100 million has been made available for the development and execution of ideas from local residents that will strengthen the vitality, economy and quality of life in the Groningen province.

Paradijshof won silver in the public vote. Our congratulations go to Mei Architecten and Heijmans on winning both the jury and public prize for Fenix I - the new home of the West 8 Rotterdam studio.
