West 8 together with Studio 44 selected for the Tuchkov Buyan Park competition in St Petersburg
On the 3rd of Feburary, West 8 and Studio 44 was announced as one of the eight finalists for the first phase of the Tuchkov Buyan park competition.
To announce the results to the public, West 8 was invited to visit the site with the other seven selected competing teams on the 17th of February, and, afterwards, Adriaan Geuze presented the firm's body of work at the evening ceremony where a Q&A with the selected teams was held.
Prior to the visit, 229 applicants from different 50 countries submitted their applications for the initial public phase of the competition. The selection of competitors for futher development was announced on the 3rd of February and Studio 44 together with West 8, with consultants Derevopark and Taisia Volftrub, received the most jury points.
The finalist teams will continue to work on a design for the waterfront park and will be judged anonymously in the forthcoming stage of competition.
The competition of Tuchkov Buyan park in St. Petersburg is organised by the DOM.RF Foundation and operated by Strelka KB. The eight selected contestants include: Agence Ter (France); Bjarke Ingels Group (USA); JV Vogt (Switzerland), together with Herzog de Meuron, (Switzerland); Kengo Kuma and Associates (France) and Michel Desvigne Paysagiste (France), together with Meganom, (Moscow, Russia).
